Painter, born in 1921 in Bjelovar in Croatia. He studies at the Academy of Zagreb, where his the first exhibits are held. After the Second World war, he moves to France, Italy and United States. In the fifties and sixties he becomes one of the most eminent exponents of the Informal European scene. He has had around 150 personal exhibits and 300 collective worldwide (Biennial in Venice in 1958 and 1964, Biennial of Tokyo in 1953 and 1965, Biennial of San Paolo in 1967). His paintings are in the Tate Gallery of London, at MoMa in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the National Gallery in Berlin, in Art Galleries in Prague, Zurich, Boston, Houston, Seoul, Vienna, Turin, Genoa and Brescia. He died to Zagreb in 2005.
